Our Commercial Services Include (but are not limited to):

Landscape Maintenance:

Irrigation Systems:
Recommendations: Winterize irrigation system in late fall. Some cities require that the backflow assembly be tested annually. To limit liability of frozen walks and damage to plants we recommend watering in the afternoon during early spring and fall. During the regular irrigation season put down about 2" of water per week on plant material and turf.

Plant Material:
Recommendations: Shrubs and trees should be fertilized once per year in the spring. Fertilizer should be applied to soil or mulch at the drip line of the plant. Pruning of shrubs, trees and certain perennials may need to be performed once or twice annually, dependent on plant growth. Never prune more than 1/3 of the plant in any one growing season.

Turf:
Recommendations: Fertilize turf three times per year. The first application of slow release fertilizer should be applied in mid-April. The second application of slow release fertilizer should be applied in mid-June. The third application of slow release (with higher potassium) should be applied in mid to late August. Annual thatching and aeration will increase the drought tolerance, and health of turf and will lesson pest and disease problems.

Bark Mulch:
Recommendations: The bark mulch can be raked to help refurbish over all esthetics of bark.

Certified Arborist (PN 1997): Certified Arborists are people who have achieved a level of knowledge in the art and science of tree care through experience and by passing a comprehensive examination developed by some of the nation's leading experts on tree care. They must also continue their education to maintain their certification, which makes them more likely to be up to date on the latest techniques in arboriculture.

Here are some of the duties of being a certified aroborist: Pruning, Removal, Emergency Tree Care, Planting, and Other Services.
  • Pruning: We can determine the type of pruning necessary to maintain or improve the health, appearance, and safety of trees. These techniques include:
    • removing branches that rub against each other
    • eliminating limbs that interfere with building facades, wires, roofs, gutters, chimneys, or windows, or that obstruct streets or sidewalks
    • removing weak or dead limbs that pose a hazard or may lead to decay
    • removing insect-infested or diseased limbs
    • creating better structure to lessen wind resistance and reduce the potential for storm damage
    • training young trees
    • removing limbs damaged by adverse weather conditions
    • removing branches, or thinning, to increase light penetration
    • improving the shape or silhouette of the tree

  • Removal: Although tree removal is a last resort for Green Planet, there are circumstances when it is necessary. We can help decide whether a tree should be removed. We have the skills and equipment to safely and efficiently remove trees. Removal is recommended when the tree:
    • is dead or dying
    • is considered irreparably hazardous
    • is causing an obstruction that is impossible to correct through pruning
    • is crowding and causing harm to other trees
    • is to be replaced by a more suitable specimen,
    • or is located in an area where new construction requires removal

  • Emergency Tree Care: Storms may cause limbs or entire trees to fall, often landing on other trees, homes and other structures, or cars. The weight of storm-damaged trees is great, and they can be dangerous to remove or trim. We can assist in performing the job in a safe manner while reducing further risk of damage to property.

  • Planting: We can recommend types of trees that are appropriate for a specific location. The wrong tree in the wrong location could lead to future problems as a result of limited growing space, insects, diseases, or poor growth.

  • Other Services: We also provide a variety of other tree care services, including
    • Plant Health Care, a concept of preventive maintenance to keep trees in good health, which will help the tree better defend itself against insects, disease, and site problems
    • fertilization
    • cabling or bracing for added support to branches with weak attachment
    • aeration to improve root growth
    • installation of lightning protection systems
    • spraying or injecting to control certain insect and disease problems

Comprehensive Lawn Care: We care about your company's appearance as much as you do! We can help setup a comprehensive program to maintain the health and beauty of your landscaping as well as address any challenges to it.

Lawn care is much more than mowing. It includes:
  • identifying the right type of grass for your landscape
  • treating incidental damage by animals (and people)
  • knowing when to thatch and/or aerate
  • knowing whether to seed or sod
  • eliminating brown or dead spots
  • and much more
You can be certain that your landscape will stay as beautiful and healthy as it can by using Green Planet Landscape as your lawn care provider.

Certified Backflow Testing: From the City of Bend's Official Website:
"Attn: Irrigation Customers:

If you have or are planning on installing an irrigation system, you must first comply with Oregon and City of Bend Ordinances. These Rules and Regulations require that all irrigation systems have approved backflow protection. A plumbing permit is also required when installing an irrigation system. A plumbing permit may be obtained from the Community Development Department, Building Division located at City Hall, 710 NW Wall Street.

Without proper backflow protection, your irrigation system could endanger the health of your family, neighbors, and others in the community who are using the public water system."
It's a good thing that Green Planet Landscape is a certified backflow assembly tester! Contact us today if you need your backflow assembly tested.

Irrigation Design & Installation Repair: Water is the most important factor in the care and growth of your lawn and plants. Proper watering is a vital part of the care and feeding of all growing plants. 75 to 80 percent of a plant's weight is from water, and without the proper amount of watering, they will suffer and could die. Too much watering and you could invite disease, insects, and rot (not to mention wasting a valuable resource).

Proper irrigation in Bend's fickle climate is necesarry to sustain growth during periods of inadequate rainfall and it also provides the feeding delivery system for fertilizers and chemicals to nurish your lawn, plants, and trees.

Green Planet Landscape can design the best multi-zone system for your landscape needs to ensure consistent water delivery to the entire system.

If something goes wrong with your irrigation system, we are the right experts to call for help. We can assess the problem quickly and work fast to fix it. Contact us today if you have any questions about our Irrigation Design and/or Repair Services.

Landscape Lighting: Landscape lighting makes outdoor spaces inviting after the sun has gone down. The beauty of flowers and landscape plantings can be enjoyed as outdoor lighting makes nighttime activities and outdoor entertaining possible; this is especially important if your business hours operate after dark. It also provides the following benefits:
  • Security: Outdoor lighting is a proven way to protect your property from criminals. Well-lit landscapes are a deterrent to prowlers, protecting both the property and its occupants.
  • Safety: The careful illumination of decks, steps, walkways, and other areas will allow you and your ccustomers to move safely from area to area without blinding glare or impenetrable shadows.
  • Dramatic Effects: With today's custom designed fixtures and state-of-the art lamps, dramatic lighting effects can be achieved in the simplest of residential or commercial landscapes. Because the fixtures are easily concealed in the landscape, they enhance rather than detract from the surroundings.
  • Economy: Complete systems can be operated for pennies a night, a welcome alternative to the harsh glare of high-wattage floodlights or the expense of a porch lamp that's left on for days.
  • An Upgrade to Your Property: A custom designed landscape lighting system is an investment in your property that will enhance your landscaping and improve your company's curb appeal. All of the professional-grade system components are constructed to provide years of reliable service.

Water Features (Design & Installation): Water features are great additions to any landscape. They give life and animation to dead space and dramatically change the character of their surroundings.

Water is a lure for birds, which are not only charming to behold but also help control the pests on your property. At night, there is nothing like a well-lit stream or pond to make outdoor views more than just a glance in the dark.

Green Planet specializes in creative water features: from reflective ponds to beautiful, trickling streams, our water elements can bring gentle tranquility to any space. Contact us today to learn more about how our creative water features can improve your landscape's appeal.

Custom Retaining Walls: A retaining wall is a truly dual-purpose structure. It serves as a barrier and transition from one level of ground to another, and it also can be a beautiful addition to your company's landscaping.

Green Planet Landscape has built many retaining walls serving every purpose from the purely functional to the decorative. We are proud of the wide variety of finishes we can offer for your retaining wall.

As with any structural project, you need to know that your wall will last through the central Oregon elements and withstand the pressure of the soil behind it. Everything we build is designed to last, and our retaining walls are no exception.

Extended Seasonal Maintenance Service: Green Planet will be offering extended seasonal maintenance service to all our existing and new clients. This extended service incorporates the months of March and November in order to more effectively manage landscapes in the high desert climate of Central Oregon.

The month of March is the beginning of the growing season for many bulbs, early perennials, early blooming shrubs and especially weeds. Spring maintenance is best started in March in for best results of the following procedures:
  1. Application of pre-emergent and post-emergent weed controls.
  2. Removal of actively growing weeds.
  3. Remove debris accumulated throughout winter (leaves, needles, thumbleweeds, litter, cinders, etc.)
  4. Dormant pruning of shrubs.
  5. Heading back of ornamental grasses and perennials.
  6. Activation of irrigation system.
March also provides the opportunity for additional cost services such as bark mulch application, gutter cleaning, annual flower plantings, landscape improvements and backflow device testing.

In November, most plants complete the transition into dormancy. Fall maintenance is best extended through November in order to:
  1. Remove pine needles and leaves that continue to fall.
  2. Application of pre-emergent weed control.
  3. Additional turf mowing to limit blade length and lessen fungal growth during winter dormancy.
  4. Dead heading perennials.
November, once again, also provides the opportunity for additional cost services such as gutter cleaning, bulb plantings and Christmas light installation.

Please consider this extended service to help us better manage your growing landscape. Your renewal contract for 2006 will have a signature line for either option, April though October or March through November. All new contracts will be March-November.

Green Planet is considering extending any seasonal contracts to annual 12 month accounts for those clients who would like snow removal services December through February. Please contact our office if you are interested in this extended service. Thank you!
